From Southern Hamden or New Haven:
Brooksvale Park is located just off Whitney Avenue (Route 10) in northern Hamden near the Cheshire town line. Traveling north on Route 10 you will pass the Sleeping Giant Golf Course on your right and then a small strip mall will come up also on the right. You will see a sign for Contrassegno's Restaurant. Take a left here onto Brooksvale Avenue. Follow Brooksvale Avenue about a mile until you see signs for parking on the left.
The 1st parking lot is the main event, softball field and activity parking area. The 2nd lot is smaller but is also the entrance to get to the roadway leading to the Veteran's Memorial Building as noted on the sign. This smaller lot fills up quickly. While driving in park borders, please proceed with caution as children, bikers, walkers and even geese may be crossing your path.
From Northern Hamden or Cheshire:
Brooksvale Park is located just off Whitney Avenue (Route 10) in Hamden not too far past the Cheshire town line. Traveling south on Route 10 you will take a right onto Mr. Sanford Road. After crossing the Farmington Canal Greenway, make a left onto Brooksvale Avenue. Follow Brooksvale Avenue half a mile to the park entrance on the right.
The 1st lot is a small one, but is the entrance to get to the roadway leading to the Veteran's Memorial Building as noted on the sign. Exit 60 off of the Wilbur Cross Parkway. Left at end of Exit from both North and South. HHS will be on your left. Turf is in rear. Park in lot closest to the PKWY.
OR
1.) I-95 South to I-91 North
2.) I-91 North to Exit 10
3.) Get off your first ramp (Right hand Side)
4.) Take a left at the end of the ramp.
5.) Go to the light and take a left
6.) Go to the next light and take a right. This is Dixwell Ave
7.) Hamden High is on Dixwell Ave (about 3 miles) You will pass the Town Hall and go through the Hamden Shopping Plaza. The High School is on your right just past Chili's
8.) Go to the left side of the high school and park in the back. You will see the field.
-------------------------------------------------------------------- Rules on the Use of the Track and Artificial Turf Field at Hamden High School
All parents, athletes, coaches, and officials using the Hamden High School outdoor athletic facilities are guests of Hamden’s Board of Education (BOE), and thus should treat the facilities with great care and respect. To this end, the following rules should be strictly adhered to at all times:
1. Spectators are required to sit in the bleachers. Only players, coaches, and officials are allowed onto the field or track. 2. No jumping of fences – please use the gates. 3. Players, coaches, etc. entering the field should walk on the rubber carpet, if available, when crossing the track. 4. The following are not allowed on the track at any time: a. Bikes, roller blades, skateboards, etc. b. Shoes with spikes (pyramid or pin) longer than 1/8 inch. c. Chairs, tables, canopies, or other potentially damaging objects. 5. Runners, joggers, and walkers are prohibited from using lanes 1 and 2. 6. Only turf shoes, sneakers, or rubber cleats are allowed on the turf field. 7. No dogs or animals are permitted on the track or turf field at any time. 8. No smoking is permitted on any BOE property. 9. No food or drink other than water is allowed on the track or turf field. In particular, no chewing gum is allowed. 10. No littering – please pick up all trash after games or practice, using trash receptacles for disposal. 11. Please use the proper restroom facilities, either in the maintenance building, at the ice rink, or in the High School. 12. Organized use of the facilities is prohibited without a signed permit from Hamden’s BOE.
Remember that it is a privilege to use these wonderful athletic facilities. To maintain this privilege we must treat it as we would our own house; keep it clean, keep it safe, and keep it nice!

I91 (From the south) For folks coming from the shore it's quicker to get off the Trumbull Street Exit of I91 in New Haven. At the end of the exit continue straight until you reach the end of Trumbull and take a right on to Prospect Street. Take Prospect Street approx 2 miles until it ends, passing the Yale Ice rink on the left, Yale Science buildings on the right, Yale apartments on the right, Albertus Magnus Colege on the left. At the end of Prospect take a left on to Mill Rock Road. Mill Rock dumps you right at the driveway for the Middle School fields. Fields are in back
I-91 (From the North) Exit 10 onto Route 40. Route 40 to the end (approximately 2.6 miles. Left at light on to Whitney Avenue/Route 10. Follow Whitney Avenue south to Putnam Avenue (approximately 4 miles) Take a right on to Putnam Avenue. Follow Putnam Avenue (approximately .8 miles to Newhall Street) Left on to Newhall Street follow Newhall Street .3 miles to Hamden Middle School on right.
From North Route 15 Exit 61. Right on to Whitney Avenue Follow Whitney Avenue south to Putnam Avenue (approximately 2.4 miles). Take a right on to Putnam Avenue. Follow Putnam Avenue (approximately .8 miles to Newhall Street) Left on to Newhall Street follow Newhall Street .3 miles to Hamden Middle School on right.
From South Route 15 Exit 61 Left on to Whitney Avenue. Follow Whitney Avenue south to Putnam Avenue (approximately 2.4 miles) Take a right on to Putnam Avenue. Follow Putnam Avenue (approximately .8 miles to Newhall Street) Left on to Newhall Street follow Newhall Street .3 miles to Hamden Middle School on right.
